I thought I would take a moment to layout of how the assessments to a bowler are determined when you qualify for a national competition.

Congratulations you made it!  Now what?

1. The NWT 5 Pin assesses our zone $1200/bowler to cover airfare, lodging and tournament costs.
2. In order to lessen that financial burden to our bowlers, the Zone long ago decided that if a bowler volunteered for a Bingo we would reduce the fee passed on to the bowler.
3. Great, how much?
4. Basically, $25/hour volunteered is reduced from that $1200 up to a minimum assessment of $300.
5. There are other ways to get volunteer hours; volunteer for the board of either the YK zone or the NWT 5, or get a friend to help at a bingo.

The NWT Open is right around the corner scheduled for Feb 23-24.  There is a slight change to the format this year as the YBC 4 Steps participants will be joining us on Sunday for their 5 game roll-off.  It should prove informative for the Youth's as they get to see that there is bowling after YBC, and who knows they might stick around to see the step-ladder.

The qualifiers for the interprovincial will be running throughout the month of February, and taking your first 9 games against the average you held at the start of the month the TOP 4 people will advance on our team to Charlotte Town.

I will post the standings for the Thursday league as they are completed.
